Australia pics V - The Great Southern Journey

The tiny town of Kirup where we stopped for lunch, one of the 'blink' towns that dot the state. That small building is the general store and the hotel (oh yes, so small town and they got a hotel) and that's the extent of their public services..

A beautiful little shop along the roadside called Tinderbox

Call me potty but I love the strong, bold colours on these pots in the sunshine.

Hand-drawn maps on chalkboards showing the region.

Stopping at the Fruit Barn in Donnybrook, heart of the fruit-producing region. This is actually the toilet.. Aussie sense of humour again. Pink Ladies and Jonathan are varieties of apples.

I like the sky in this shot, the clouds show 3 layers of colour..

We passed lots of pastureland and vineyards on the way.. The southwestern corner of the state of WA is the greenest and most fertile corner.

And off we went on our journey south to Walpole, Denmark and Albany. Kudos to my tireless Uncle Toney who did all the driving, sometimes for hours at a stretch, while we all dozed in the car..
